Austin Energy is seeking a Director Energy Efficiency Services responsible for developing and implementing short and long range plans, programs, and personnel to promote Austin Energy’s Green Building and sustainability projects and programs and likewise oversees Electric Vehicles and Emerging Technologies Department. Determines goals, objectives, and resource requirements for activities within the division. Establishes processes and procedures to provide services in green building and sustainability, ensuring compliance with all city ordinances, practices, policies, and procedures. Works effectively with other City departments and externally with stakeholders to forward green building, sustainability and electrification goals. This position will oversee 4 direct and 33 indirect reports.

Experience leading complex, multi-layered organizations of 20+ employees
Experience with green building and sustainability, including leading a green building or sustainability team
Experience managing managers who develop, manage and innovate programs to meet policy objectives
Experience presenting publicly at forums and responding to Boards & Commissions
Experience effectively managing executive discussions and relationships
Demonstrated ability to ideate and integrate between departments both within CES and enterprise-wide
Demonstrated effective communications and leadership with the mid-level manager or Director peer group moving specific policy/program items forward
Experience developing and executing complex strategies for both Green Building and Electric Vehicles / Electrification
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or in a field related to the job, plus seven (7) years related experience, two (2) years of which were in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Education may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.
