The Department of Operations & Business Analytics (OBA), Lundquist College of Business, University of Oregon invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, to begin September 16, 2024 (AY24/25). We are seeking candidates with a focus on business/data analytics with a preference for sustainability and/or sport and wellness.
Department or Program Summary
The Department of Operations & Business Analytics (OBA) is committed to excellence in research and teaching, in support of the mission of the College and University. OBA faculty apply rigorous analytic and empirical methods to address challenging and impactful operational problems across a wide range of domains including manufacturing, supply-chain/distribution, product management, revenue management, retailing, and healthcare. Our faculty are engaged with students across the Lundquist College’s undergraduate, Master’s, and doctoral programs. OBA department faculty offer the college’s undergraduate Operations & Business Analytics Concentration, which includes courses in python data analytics, predictive modeling (in R), database/SQL, sports analytics, project management, and supply chain management.

All tenure-track faculty expected to conduct high-quality research targeting top peer-reviewed journals and be able to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Assistant Professors have a nominal teaching load of 4 quarter courses per academic year. (Each course meets twice a week for 10 weeks.) Typically, that teaching is split between two terms—i.e., fall, winter, and/or spring. Assistant professors are also expected to be involved in appropriate service role(s).
• A Ph.D in Operations Management or a closely related field (e.g., Management Science, Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Industrial Engineering) from an accredited institution. • Evidence of potential for research excellence, e.g., manuscripts and/or revisions in high-quality operations-related journals.
(Outstanding candidates who plan to complete a doctoral degree within a year of hiring (ABD) may be considered.)
Preferred Qualifications
• Publication(s) in premier operations-related journals. • Rigorous research relating to wellness (including healthcare), sustainability, and sport. • Evidence of teaching excellence in operations or data-analytics courses.
