The purpose of this job within the organization is to perform professional and responsible administrative work, coordinating and participating in the design, maintenance, operation, and future planning of the Commission’s electric distribution system. Candidate must have proven knowledge of electric utility distribution systems and projects from the planning stages and conceptual engineering, through detailed design and construction. Expertise in utility standards, operations, maintenance, and construction are required. Ideal candidate will also provide technical analysis to supplement project work involving energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies, and electricity rates.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related field
Requires 8+ years in public utilities engineering design, plan review, and project management or closely related experience
Valid South Carolina Driver's License required.
Familiarity with the NEC, NESC, IEEE, OSHA, NERC
Excellent communication and relationship skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, general public, and all other internal and external customers
Strong analytical and judgement skills: Good decision-making and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to make judgments based on interpretation of information and when others' opinions may be in conflict
South Carolina Professional Engineering License (Current PE with ability to obtain SCPE license)
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and deal with interruptions while meeting timely deadlines
