Apply a variety of computer science methods and techniques to develop and integrate software and computer-related services for use in collecting, visualizing, and interpreting data and solving complex computer processing requirements.
Manage the execution of analytics projects based on statistics, machine learning, experimental design, and the scientific method principles to derive insight.
Coordinate with senior team leaders and regulatory health information specialists to ensure any modifications to data are consistent with the information needs of all data user organizations.
Maintain expertise regarding data protocols and formats, emerging tools, analytic techniques and resources within the field of data science.

Basic Qualifications: The position of Computer Scientist falls under the 1550 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-12/13, you must meet the following:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
Specialized Experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
GS-12: You must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service that includes experience: providing computer science and technical support for database management systems; verifying quality and accuracy of data through various quality control methods; and assisting in developing computational algorithms and statistical methods to find patterns and relationships in large volumes of data.
GS-13: You must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service that includes experience: developing software applications to collect, interpret, and visualize large volumes of data; applying analytics and visualization tools to gain information and support fact-based decision making; and advising on strategies to be used in accessing information from data systems.
