THE DEPARTMENT In May 2019 the City Council selected Michael Ciaravino as Mill Creek’s new City Manager. The administrative team is meaningfully transforming and reorganizing its City government capturing momentum and carefully constructing Mill Creek’s management team, emphasizing ethics, professionalism, sophistication, and diversity. The City of Mill Creek is in an exciting new stage of reorganization. The Public Works and Development Services Department provides vital services to the community of Mill Creek, combining planning, economic development, and public works. The newly constituted Public Works Engineering team, comprised of the City Engineer, Project Engineer, and Surface Water Engineer, will have the opportunity to contribute to a city organization that is aligned with best practices, efficiency, technical advancements, and innovation. THE CITY ENGINEER POSITION: The City Engineer is responsible for leading and managing the Public Works engineering group reporting to the Director of the Public Works and Development Services department. The City is seeking an individual with broad and deep experience in all aspects of public works, with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross functional teams. This is a chance to help build and develop a tight knit team that sets new paradigms in how to efficiently and effectively develop and maintain the City’s infrastructure. Our team-oriented approach means the City Engineer will be working closely with the Public Works Maintenance and Operations group, Planning, and the Development Services group to provide expertise to cross functional teams and partner with others to share program tasks as department workload varies. The Public Works Engineering group’s responsibilities encompass: o Engineering for public infrastructure (transportation, stormwater, parks, facilities). o Engineering review of private development projects. o Interface with utility partners (water, sewer, electricity, gas, communications). o Establishing and maintaining close ties to our Public Works Maintenance and Operations group. The Public Works Engineering group’s scope of work encompasses: o Internal design and management of infrastructure preservation and maintenance programs. o Partnership with contracted design and construction firms for major public works projects (transportation, stormwater, parks, facilities). o Planning and budgeting for capital improvement projects and programs. o Coordination with Development Services and Planning groups on land use and transportation plans. o Managing inter-local agreements with utility, County, and franchise partners. o Ensuring compliance and reporting to regional and state agencies TO APPLY SEND RESUME AND COVER LETTER TO: HRPublicWorks@cityofmillcreek.com.
