DEPUTY EXECUTIVE OFFICER, PROJECT MANAGEMENT (TRANSIT ARCHITECTURE)

Requirements For Employment

A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a two-for-one year basis. A typical combination includes:

Education

• Bachelor′s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related field; Master's Degree in a related field preferred

Experience

• Five years of relevant senior management-level experience in the design and/or construction of major capital projects, including extensive experience managing mass transit projects

Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements

• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions

• California Licensed Architect preferred

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications (PQs) are used to identify relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) as determined by business necessity. These criteria are considered preferred qualifications and are not intended to serve as minimum requirements for the position. PQs will help support selection decisions throughout the recruitment. In addition, applicants who possess these PQs will not automatically be selected.

The following are the preferred qualifications:

• Experience designing, reviewing, and approving the architectural design for major transit projects, such as underground rail stations, at-grade stations, aerial stations and Bus Rapid Transit stations
• Experience coordinating with planning departments to develop Standard Drawings for urban design and surrounding station areas, including patron access to stations
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including internal project staff and project consultants
• Experience preparing, producing and presenting reports to executive management and Board of Directors
• California Licensed Architect

 

Knowledge:

• Theories, principles, and practices of rail transit engineering, design, construction, operations, and maintenance
• Governmental contract policies and procedures
• Public administrative methods, including goal setting, program and budget development and implementation
• Applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and standards
• Large-scale capital project management
• Contract management for both consultants and construction
• Social, political, and environmental issues influencing transit programs
• Heavy construction practices and procedures
• Modern management theory
• Applicable business software applications
