To organize, staff, and lead (planning, direction, and control) the quality function in support of the company vision, mission and quality objectives.
Overall responsibility for all QA activities of the manufacturing site AFRG, this includes:
Assurance of vendor and plant product quality
Oversight of Customer Complaint Management Process
Support for, and participation in, Operations Strategic Plan
Setup and assurance of operational accuracy of all QA tools and equipment supporting the operation
Staffing for all QA functions
Support for all activities related to Pre-SOP and Post-SOP programs
Coordination of all groups to achieve IATF 16949 certification
Analysis, tracking, and trend analysis of product warranty claims
Drive implementation of OK/NOK standards for product and process
Maintenance of key Quality KPI’s
Leading the company in the application of best-practice problem-solving methods (Ford TOPS-8D method is industry preferred)
Oversight of the Non-Conforming Product Containment Process
Drive cross-functional CI projects to improve Ops KPI’s, especially to improve Quality KPI’s
Oversight of LPA program
Manage Q-Group’s Operating and Capital budgets
Training & Development
Develop, with HR, training & development programs to sustain skills to meet enterprise and customer expectations

About Alfmeier Friedrichs & Rath
Alfmeier Präzision was formed in 1960 in Treuchtlingen Germany by Mr. Walter Alfmeier, and enjoyed significant growth and success under the leadership of his partner Mr. Hans Gebhardt. Mr. Gebhardt’s sons, Markus and Andreas Gebhardt took over the firm in 1993 and have since continued the success and growth of the Alfmeier Group. Alfmeier’s U.S. entity, Alfmeier Corporation was formed in 1994 in Greenville, South Carolina as a wholly owned subsidiary of Alfmeier Präzision. Expanding to the United States was a bold venture for a small company, but necessary to be an effective supplier to the global automotive market. Alfmeier has subsequently established additional facilities in Germany along with new factories in the Czech Republic, Korea, and most recently, China.
Alfmeier Corporation opened its new facility in Greenville, South Carolina in 1994 to initially manufacture parts for the newly launched BMW Z3 Roadster. We concurrently opened an office in Detroit, Michigan to introduce Alfmeier’s products and expertise to other North American automotive manufacturers Alfmeier was well received and was awarded programs on major vehicle platforms including the Chrysler Minivan, ...Ford F Series Pick-up, and GM pickup trucks – three of the highest selling vehicles in the U.S. North American sales increased from $100,000 in 1994 to $100 million in 2019, one third of Alfmeier’s Group of $300 million in annual sales.
The Greenville facility serves as the North American headquarters where products are concepted, developed, validated, and produced. Greenville’s facility started at a modest 25,000 square feet, doubled in size in 1999, and increased to its current 80,000 square feet in 2017.
In 2002, Alfmeier acquired American Components, adding a facility in Monterrey Mexico to the North American locations. The Monterrey facility has since flourished, tripling in size, matching the floorspace in Greenville. Alfmeier Mexico manufactures the same products as Greenville, but also specializes in radio frequency welding of air cells. Alfmeier Mexico utilizes some of Alfmeier’s most sophisticated assembly lines to be one of the most productive sites in the Alfmeier group.
In 2010, Alfmeier and Friedrichs & Rath Inc combined to form Alfmeier Friedrichs & Rath LLC (AFR). The merger added Friedrichs & Rath’s injection molding facility in Anderson South Carolina as a fourth AFR location. Friedrichs & Rath’s Anderson facility provided injection molded product to many of the same customers as Alfmeier, but to customers-provided drawings. The Anderson facility was struggling at the time of the merger, but after five years of improvements was a successful operation. In order to focus more on Alfmeier-designed products, AFR sold the Anderson facility in 2015, retaining the Alfmeier Friedrichs & Rath name.

AFR’s expertise is in the design, development and manufacturing of complex molded assemblies and systems that control fluid flow in vehicles. The majority of our products are for Ford, Tesla, GM, Chrysler, BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai, and other original equipment (OE) vehicle manufacturers. Though we develop and qualify our products through the OE’s, we work and sell the majority of our products to Tier 1 companies – those that sell larger systems directly to the car manufacturers. Fluid System Products
Fluid system products control fluid flow in cars and trucks and were the foundation of business and growth for both Alfmeier Germany and Alfmeier U.S. They consist of sophisticated plastic assemblies that we design and build to control fluid in passenger cars and light trucks, probably the car that you drive. Our Fluid System Products fall into two groups – Fuel System Products and Engine System Products.
Fuel System Products
AFR and Alfmeier Präzision are recognized as global leaders in the development and manufacturing of components to control gasoline and gasoline vapor in automotive fuel tanks. Though most think their car’s fuel tank is just a simple box, it is actually very complicated and subject to extensive safety, quality, and environmental regulations. Alfmeier develops and manufactures the products needed by our customers to meet the stringent requirements of the car manufacturers and regulatory agencies. Being part of the fuel system, the quality and function of our parts are critical to the safety and function of the vehicle.
Engine System Products
AFR also designs and manufactures plastic devices to control automotive vacuum systems used in power braking and other vehicle systems. Alfmeier produces over 30 million non-return valves across the globe each year used in brake systems in vehicles built by nearly all automotive manufacturers. We also develop and manufacture vacuum enhancers, sensor valves, and other valves used to assure proper vehicle performance.
Seat Comfort Systems
Seat Comfort Systems are components, assemblies, and systems that make your car’s seats more comfortable. They can be as simple as an assembly to provide adjustable support or an increasingly sophisticated pneumatic system that massages you and automatically adjusts as you drive. Alfmeier’s unique Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) valves are smaller, lighter, and use less power than competitive systems which has led to Alfmeier being recognized as a global leader in pneumatic seat comfort systems. In addition to the special valves, Alfmeier manufactures and supplies all the other components needed to make your ride more comfortable including air pumps, air cells, microprocessor controls, and complete seat comfort assemblies.
