TriMet's Engineering and Construction Division is filling a Project Controls Manager position for the MAX Red Line Extension and Reliability Improvements Project. As a member of this talented team, this person will lead the documentation, budgeting, cash flow, schedule, estimating, invoicing, submittals, and contract change efforts.
A proactive/predictive approach, attention to detail, and a skill for leveraging quality results will be leading attributes for candidates. Experience on larger public construction projects is a plus. Skills and/or education related to civil engineering or construction management will help to serve project needs. Some of the primary responsibilities include:
Up to date reporting to internal and external project partners such as TriMet's finance department and the Federal Transit Administration
Tracking project Design and Construction deliverables and submittals
Review of Design and Construction invoices and submittals, including distribution for review and consolidation of comments.
Administering progress payments
Comparison of Owner and Contractor cost estimates
Preparation of Order of Magnitude estimates for potential changes (PC)
Evaluation of contract and change order (CO) pricing
Preparation/administration of contract PCs and COs
Price negotiations for Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), PCs and COs
Coordination/distribution of minor revisions (MRs), clarifications (CLs) and field orders (FOs)
Negotiation of bid items and provisional sum quantities with Contractor
Maintenance of up-to-date contract plans and specifications
Project closeout and start up
More about the MAX Red Line Extension and Reliability Improvements Project: This Project constructs improvements at Gateway Transit Center (GTC), Portland Airport (PDX), and Fairplex to expand and improve service reliability and reduce delays by expanding single-track areas to double track. Improvements include two new stations, MUP pathways, retaining walls and structures. Careful coordination to minimize impacts to the community and TriMet's existing system, while minimizing impacts to its valued customers, will be critical to the project's success.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required.
A minimum of six (6) years total credited experience.*
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management or a related field.
Professional registration from the State of Oregon (or ability to obtain within 6-months) as a Professional Engineer or Architect or Landscape Architect or certification as a CCM or PMP is highly desired.
General design and construction management experience, including experience in public works and bus and light rail transit development desired.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
