The Bekris Lab is seeking a post-doctoral trainee interested in teasing apart genetic and epigenetic susceptibility to Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Genomic Medicine Institute at the Lerner Research Institute-Cleveland Clinic. The successful candidate(s) will work in the Bekris lab which is supported by multiple grants and funding resources. An Alzheimer's Disease Research Center award from the NIH/NIA supports continued research on the genetic and epigenetic factors underlying biomarkers (quantitative traits) in Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Bekris lab research is focused on identifying and evaluating the functional impact of genetic and epigenetic factors in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
Recent PhDs with a degree in molecular genetics, statistical genetics, molecular biology or related field as well as a background in experimental genomics and epigenomics utilizing cellular models will be considered, including experience in cloning and reporter assay methodologies. Experience in analysis of next-generation sequencing data and familiarity with widely-used genomic/epigenomic databases and related software is a plus.
The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a publication record. In addition, the candidate must be capable of working within a team of molecular biologists, bioinformaticians and clinicians.
